Arrived in Christchurch this evening a little bleary and worse for wear and tear after a long flight and a missed connection in Auckland after various delays enroute and going through customs etc. But a nice meal in Christchurch set the world right again. Tomorrow we go through "Clothing Issue" at CDC (Clothing Distribution Center) at the USAP facility here. This is where we will get our cold weather gear for the ice. Friday, we are scheduled to fly off early for the ice. It is summer here in NZ, of course, and so all is green and lush and quite beautiful.
Still plenty of evidence in pockets of Christchurch of the large earthquake the shook the area a couple of months ago...
